PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This two week CERTIFICATION program in Seville, Spain takes the concept of studying abroad to a new level. As an aspiring medical professional you can now apply a relevant professional experience to your academic discipline and university degree. If you’re an undergraduate student or recent graduate considering a career in health care, GlobalEd's PHTLS program will provide you with intensive pre-hospitalization training in English while living abroad and experiencing the culture of Seville, Spain.

Aside from all that great work experience, this program is a full study abroad program including: Airport pickup, living with a host family (full meal plan), comprehensive medical insurance, cultural sensitivity orientation, teamwork and leadership training using Myers Briggs, and a 200 euro stipend for activities and excursions.

NO KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROGRAM

PHTLS CERTIFICATION

This is a PHTLS certification program (taught in English) designed for those interested in pursuing a career as a doctor, nurse, emergency medical responder (EMR), firefighter, rescue personnel and law enforcement officer. PHTLS stands for Pre-Hospitalization Trauma and Life Support. PHTLS is a certification recognized by National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and is a great grad school candidacy and employability booster. Pre-hospitalization training includes health care services performed prior to arrival to a hospital including: securing the zone of an accident, assessing the risk of accident victims, stabilizing a victim's neck, extraction from a vehicle, and transporting accident victims through an obstacle course. This is a physically demanding, fun and highly engaging course. Program participants will learn about teamwork, leadership and learn to empathize with victims.

HOST INSTITUTION

Global Education and Career Development Abroad (GlobalEd) has been functioning since 2009 as an educational institution with a special focus on the development of skill sets within the academic discipline of our program participants. GlobalEd designs Career Path Programs by combining the study abroad experience with language learning, leadership training and internships. We offer credit and non-credit options to cater to both undergraduate students and recent graduates.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

This program is ideally suited for undergraduate students and recent graduates seeking affordable opportunities to increase their candidacy for post graduate medical degree programs. The marketable experiences from this program have included: cultural immersion, language learning, hands-on exposure to a professional medical environment, witnessing surgeries and births, learning the difference between the U.S. and local health care system, leadership training, etc... Many of our past program participants have stated that their experience abroad with GlobalEd's medical internship program have had a profound impact on their med school applications and acceptance.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Students will live with a Spanish family and receive three meals per day. Most students will live within close proximity to each other and their internship. Living with a Spanish family which includes: a full meal plan (3 meals per day), weekly laundry and cleaning service.

Students will receive a 200 euro activities and excursion stipend enabling access to cultural activities such as walking tours of the city, visiting monuments, and joining excursions that will allow you to meet other international students from around the world. As a student, your stipend will provide you with the flexibility to apply your funds towards trips to destinations like Morocco, Granada, Córdoba or Lagos, Portugal.
