PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Few programs will compare to the deliverables of this medical internship and emergency training opportunity. This 2+2 model adds to more than four. Keep reading! This program combines Hospital Rotations, Emergency Medical Training, cultural activities and optional Spanish language training. In this four-week term, your experiences will give you plenty to talk about on a resume, cover letter and grad school application. As a pre-med program participant, you will spend four weeks in this summer program acquiring a tremendous about of hands-on experience by working in a local hospital or in a private practice for two weeks, while increasing your Spanish language competency through one or two weeks of optional intensive language training (up to 40 hours total). The other half of your program will include GlobalEd's First Responder Bootcamp (taught in English) where you will be one of 20 international pre-med students working in teams in the most engaging Health Care Team Building obstacle course of your life. Aside from all that great work experience, this program also includes: an onsite orientation, welcome dinner, horse & carriage ride through the city,  housing (apartment, live with a family, or student residence) comprehensive medical insurance, cultural sensitivity orientation, teamwork and leadership training using Myers Briggs, and a 200 euro activities and excursions stipend. 

The first responder training program will be delivered in the first two weeks of July. During the two weeks subsequent to the EMT, you will work in a local hospital and shadow medical professionals. See dates and program fees below. This experience will NO DOUBT impress grad school and future employers and are sure to dominate your interviews for years to come.

Participation is limited to 20 students and enrollment is accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Perform an International Internship

Internships with local companies (between 80 and 160 hours) in a field related to your academic discipline.

Optional Intensive Spanish courses

Opt to take one or two weeks of Spanish language training and turn your knowledge of Spanish into a tool. (up to 40 hours)

Customized housing placements

You can choose to live in a shared apartment with other international students or with a host family including a full meal plan.

Professional development training

Receive training to learn how to articulate these experience so they appeal to employers.

Travel stipend provided

Use your 200 euro travel stipend to participate in organized excursions with other international students.

HOST INSTITUTION

Global Education and Career Development Abroad (GlobalEd) has been functioning since 2009 as an educational institution with a special focus on the development of skill sets within the academic discipline of our program participants. GlobalEd designs Career Path Programs by combining the study abroad experience with language learning, leadership training and internships. We offer credit and non-credit options to cater to both undergraduate students and recent graduates.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

This program is ideally suited for undergraduate students and recent graduates seeking affordable opportunities to increase their candidacy for post graduate medical degree programs. The marketable experiences from this program have included: cultural immersion, language learning, hands-on exposure to a professional medical environment, witnessing surgeries and births, learning the difference between the U.S. and local health care system, leadership training, etc... WHAT'S INCLUDED
HOUSING

As a program participant you will have different housing options to choose from to match your lifestyle. Students may live in self-catered apartments or upgrade to live with a Spanish family and receive three meals per day. Most students will live within close proximity to each other and within walking distance to their Spanish language class. Self-catered apartments are included in the base price of the program. For an additional fee, you may choose to live with a Spanish family which includes: a full meal plan (3 meals per day), weekly laundry and cleaning service.

STUDENT LIFE

Students will receive a 200 euro activities and excursion stipend enabling access to cultural activities such as walking tours of the city, visiting monuments, and joining excursions that will allow you to meet other international students from around the world. As a student, your stipend will provide you with the flexibility to apply your funds towards trips to destinations like Morocco, Granada, Córdoba or Lagos, Portugal.
